September 18-19, 2010: KC Cup Cross Country Race and Festival - Swope Park

WHAT:  KC Cup Cross Country Mountain Bike Race  and Festival

WHEN: September 18-19, 2010

WHERE:  Swope Park.  Kansas City, MO.

DIRECTIONS: Google Maps Link

EVENT DETAILS:   Swope Park trail system currently consists of 7.0 miles of single track in the historic Camp Lake of the Woods, with an additional 11 miles planned in the next several years.  When complete, the single track trail system within Swope Park will add 18 miles to another planned 20 miles along the Blue Rive corridor.  The entire trail network is designed, constructed and maintained by volunteer labor.  To learn more about how you can volunteer and assist with Swope Park trails or any of the other trail systems in the area,  Go to www.swopetrails.com or  www.earnyourdirt.org and click on Get Involved!

COURSE DESCRIPTION:  Rip roaring good times will be had by all.  Rave reviews have been streaming in with people hitting the freshly groomed loops over the labor day weekend.  It typical HSP fashion, we have two seperate courses, one for the Cat 3/Junior races and one for the Cat1/2/SS/Marathon races.  The Cat 3/Junior course is apx 3.1 miles of supa fast singletrack, double track and a little bit of road mixed in.  The Cat1/2/SS/Marathon course combines the supa fast sections of the Cat 3 loop and throws in some good ol' midwest techincal sections to keep everyone honest.

We have mixed up the courses from the 2009 edition and incoporated a huge chuck of the recently completed Phase 3 section of the Swope Trail System.  And rumor has it, that a couple of the Swope Trail Hermits were turning 14mph avg laps on the Cat1 loop.

Get yourself ready for some dirt lovin' good times.  Swope is ready, Are you?

**We generally race rain or shine.  However, check the website prior to the race if the conditions are threatening. Our highest priority is the sustainability of the trails.  If we feel by racing on the trails that we will do damage to them, then we will choose not to race and will post to this website.
